Amrita Rao’s cameo revealed

Her last hit, Vivah saw her getting dolled up for marriage. Her next film, Shaurya sees her as an army widow.. Amrita Rao is having a blast as she experiments with roles and life.

Shooting in Bangkok for Anil Kapoor’s Shortcut, Amrita sounded excited about her role in Shaurya. “Hey, how come you know about this.. this was supposed to be a surprise,” exclaimed the petite actress.

Hey Amrita we are sorry to spoil the surprise, but that’s our job.. And coming back to her cameo, she revealed, “This is my first cameo. And I have done it not just because Samar Khan is a great friend, but he also gave a role that was pivotal to the plot of the film.”

You know I have known Sammy from my first film and we became close during the show, Sabse Favourite Kaun in 2005, which I eventually won. We hear narrations and scripts daily, but here was a young director trying out a different film altogether. I am honoured to be a part of the film”, gushes the Ishq Vishq actress.

Samar Khan who had earlier directed Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye said, “Amrita plays a very small but vital role in the film. We completed shooting her part in four days. She is a very good friend of mine. She is a very sweet girl and has no hassles.”

In bolly town, good friends are hard to come by. And Amrita proved that she is a friend, because it is not easy for a successful actress to play second fiddle to another heroine.

Oh wow, Rao

The gorgeous Bollywood actress Amrita Rao, who was last seen in the film My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, is getting ready for next week’s Filmfare Awards.

And dressing her up for the glitzy evening is designer Babita Malkani, stylist to Bollywood, whose fashion house in New York has given her a zany edge when it comes to creating an international look for desi stars.

Take this cobalt blue dress with Swarosky crystals that the designer put on the actress for the premiere of her last film. It brought in such a flood of compliments, that Amrita decided to ask Babita to continue with her styling. “On me, her costumes fit like a dream,” said Amrita. “I don’t need to wear any heavy jewellery.”

The designer explained the thought behind the cobalt blue dress: “Amrita’s strong Indian features and image made me design the outfit that maintains her Indian image, but is more Western and adaptive to her persona.”

Babita believes that Amrita needs a makeover that’s not a change but a transformation. She would like to see the actress in colours like fuchsia and wine, wearing styled coats and structured dresses in raw silk. “These would show off Amrita’s pretty face and complement her bright eyes,” said Babita.

Amrita Rao: Shaurya differs for all of us

Shaurya differs for all of us, but it essentially is every that thing which requires us to show a certain amount of resolve and courage... whether it is something as noble as fighting for the rights of people or something as seemingly trivial as not saying I told you so' in a fight.

Shaurya is not a large sounding word or a concept. Shaurya is what we encounter every single day. It comes into play in the choices we make as we lead our daily lives. Should I jump the red light because I'm late for a shoot? Should I turn a blind eye to an accident victim on the road? Should I lie my way out of an obligation to a producer? Should I forget to call my sick aunt again today?

Right choice versus wrong choice. That is Shaurya, put very simply.

Shaurya to me, also means combating fear...
